Introducing the concept of the Flipped Classroom
I designed this Storyline interactive story in 2023, as the starting point for a longer course about the Flipped Classroom approach to teaching and learning. The idea was to introduce the basic concepts and purposes of a flipped classroom in a familiar scenario for the teaching staff who would take the course. It was designed as a discussion between two lecturers about the benefits and potential drawbacks of the approach and how they might implement it in a fictitious History course.
This Storyline activity includes automated voices as well as words on the screen and includes quiz questions at certain points to actively involve the learner.

Manuscript Paleography Activity
When I worked for the School of Advanced Study, I helped design a short course on palaeography skills using a bespoke tool to allow learners to identify letters and abbreviations in a range of medieval manuscripts. By 2020, that course had become somewhat dated due to significant developments in the tools available. I therefore experimented with Storyline to design an updated version of the activities.
This example was a short activity to help learners identify abbreviations in medieval manuscripts.

The Life of a Honeybee
This Storyline activity is a demo for a much larger project which uses a ‘choose your own adventure’ method to teach adults about the life cycle of a honeybee. It uses storytelling to guide the learner through the life events of a honeybee as if you were that honeybee. Depending on the choices the learner makes you will either live a full life in a honeybee colony or die from various threats.
Type: Simple Scenario (branching)
Learners: Beekeepers/those interested in honeybees
